crew other two victories came in the open C-4 with Glen crew defeating Jack crew of Carieton Place and Rick open war canoe win over Dave crew of Carieton Place Both Gananoque winners are favorites to take gold medals in this CCA at the Otterburn Canoe Club near Montreal only win came In the junior K-2 with the team of Mike Gallagher and Jim Christie defeating Eric and Dave Ferguson Mississauga dominates TORONTO (CP) Mississauga paddlers after a so-so season on the water rallied in the Southern Ontario division trials during the weekend and will send at least 33 crews to the Canadian Canoe Association championship The Mississaugans in their bid to capture the CCA championship for the fifth straight season won 15 races had 12 seconds and were third six times amassing 233 points Top three finishers in each event advance to the Canadian championship The Mohawk club of Burlington with eight wins and 27 crews qualifying tied at 168 prints with West Rouge club seven wine and 24 crews qualifying son Wing placed second and fellow club member Jim But-tler was third Wing and Buttler bronze C-2 medallists in last CCA event slipped to third place Sunday losing to Gana-noque's Peter Fair and Ron Pope Edwards and Jim Ritchie of Carieton Place took the runner-up slot Gananoque bantam paddlers won two of four division raees and had respectable finishes in the others Tim Dailey and Paul Shor-tall won the C-2 event while Rick crew last year's Ontario bantam champions Hopped the war canoe event In the bantam C-4 race where Gananoque holds the Canadian record Paul crew placed second and fellow member Jim crew was third undefeated K-2 crew consisting of Fair and Buttery kept their record intact defeating David Grant and Peter Lalferty of Catara-qut Harry Boumeester and Roger Kempe also of Cataraqui took third spot In the K-4 race Buttery's crew of Fair Ian Parsons and Lloyd Emmerson remained undefeated scoring a convincing triumph over David Grant's crew from Carlo-ton Place Ron crew gold medallist in the juvenile war canoe event and favorites to repeat as champions easily won the event Sunday over Terry Carie ville who were competing in a regatta at Cartierville Quo Findlay's six victories marked toe top individual performance by a female pad-dlcr this season Findlay favorite for a gold medal in this Canadian Canoe Association Championship boasted individual triumphs in both the Junior and Senior K-l events She paired with Linda Tuttle to score easy wins in the Junior and Senior K-2 races The 15-year-old paddler also guided her K-t crew to victory and completed the afternoon as a member of the Carieton Place war canoe crew which finished in a surprising 'dead heat with Gananoque Pommerville a juvenile silver medallist in the C-l event at last CCA Championships and now competing as a junior scored an upset victory in Junior C-l He defeated Rideau's John Bales who had been undefeated in toe event so for this season by a half a boat length in toe 750-metre race Pommerville also had a second place finish in the' open war canoe event and a third in toe Junior C-2 Willie Wing a bronze medallist in CCA pad-petition last year is still paddling to frowns for Gananoque pad-dlen Sunday afternoon -Hie paddlen arrived at the CatarsquI Canoe Club shore-line fresh from a convincing triumph at their host dub Division Regatta last Saturday But a 1-2 punch from Janet Findlay and Peter Pommer-vllle led Carieton Place to a 20-point victory over Gananoque In the Eastern Ontario Champkmship Regatta Findlay topped the competition pining firsts in six events while Pommerville highlighted the boys' division in leading Carieton Place to a 177tt-point total Gananoque finished in the runner-up position with 157 points Rideau Canoe Chib was a distant third with 75 points The host Cataraqui Chib was fourth with 85 points while Almonte finished last with MVfc points The top three finishers in each of Sunday's 25 events will compete in the Ontario Championship' Regatta slated for the Rideau Club this Saturday Gananoque ranked fourth in Canada last year more than doubled ta points over Carieton Place last Saturday winning toe regatta by a 209-101 margin But toe reason for Carieton disappointing showing was the absence of several of toe top paddlers including Findlay and Pommer- Elwood Johnston paddlers weren't too disappointed three-consecutive groundings The defending champion Dutchmen opened the Kingston Soccer League (A division) season with flourish winning five games and tying two before suffering a loss But suddenly everything went wrong for toe Dutchmen A rash of injuries the most serious being perennial to all-star goalie Ralph Euverman started a downward trend that saw the Dutchmen lose three-straight games To make matters worse another win was taxon away from them when Brockville dropped out of the league All games involving Brockville were stricken from the standings But The Dutchmen with Eu-German back in goal got back on toe winning track Sunday afternoon by downing too vastly-improved Portuguese Canadians 5-2 at Pasture A crowd of approximately 400 spectators watched toe Dutcb-mca put on a strong offensive display In the second half which left the Canadians completely disorganized The Dutchmen led 3-2 going into the second half and waited only seven minutes before striking Frank Nacetleli was
